There are certain people in life with whom we cross paths who we automatically and wonderfully connect with, and Lucy and Sean are some of those people for me. After hanging up the phone from my first conversation with them, I couldn’t shut up to my husband about them. I’m sure I said at least 3 times how we neeeeeeeed to be friends with them.
Lucy and Sean road tripped last year to the west and fell in love with Montana – I mean, obviously. Ha! They decided to visit again on their way back home, and set up an appointment to visit Grizzly Creek Ranch for a possible wedding venue. They fell in love, even more, and decided this was where they wanted to make their special promises to each other with their immediate families and very closest friends as witnesses. The group of 17 showed up on a beautiful weekend in August to celebrate, party, hike, and look for grizzlies.
Lucy and Sean decided to do a first look privately while their guests were being seated for the ceremony. A short, yet meaningful moment to feel the anticipation together and walk hand in hand and side by side to share their vows publicly.
“So glad we absorbed your ever honest and true advice, specifically about the first look. It ended up being really important to me! You helped us make it our own.” -Lucy
To honor Sean’s heritage, Lucy and Sean included the Hindu wedding ritual Saptapadi. 7 vows and 7 revolution around the fire. And to honor their own desire to make their wedding day exactly what they wanted it to be, they asked their best friends who are also their brothers to officiate the ceremony.
An emphasis for Lucy and Sean during their wedding planning was keep the wedding weekend focused on the celebration of their commitment. They used this intimate setting, tucked in the Tom Miner Basin, to enjoy each other’s company and relax. Simple decorations and a “come as you are” invitation to their special people let the focus fall on celebration instead of stressful wedding planning. Lucy and Sean are two of the most genuine people I’ve ever met; love and acceptance just oozes from them. I’m so lucky I got to photograph their beautiful wedding and even more grateful for a life long friendship.
