Megan + Joel. Helena, Montana Engagement Session.

The third time is a charm. I rarely cancel sessions; I’ve learned that canceling too early usually leaves me with regret as I sit on my porch just before sunset looking at the amazing light I should have been shooting. In fact, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve cancelled, and two of those cancellations were for Megan and Joel’s engagements. Yes, the third time was a charm, but the weather could have been a bit more charming, especially for the middle of July. We were determined, so the 50 degree weather was only a minor setback. Even with all the setbacks, I loved how Megan and Joel were so easy going about it all.

I love watching my clients’ families grow, and photographing them along the way is just the icing on the top. I photographed Andrea and Nathan’s wedding in 2014 and was thrilled when they invited me into their home to photograph a morning in their lives with their new little man Oliver. I loved how awake and alert he was for a lot of the session, and some of his sweet expressions left me smiling from ear to ear.

Montana + Adam. Maternity Session. Helena, Montana.

It’s true. Her name is Montana, and she lives in Montana.

I just love that.

This session, you guys… I was holding back tears the entire time because of how sweet Adam and Tanna (for short) were with each other. Adam found me and scheduled a lifestyle session as a Mother’s Day gift for his wife. And this, my friends, is what I love. Several of my clients have surprised their significant others with sessions, and in my mind what better gift is there? So we spent the evening on Mother’s Day walking around the hills of Mount Helena capturing this significant time in their lives and focusing on the love, commitment, and devotion that has brought them to this point. I love how Tanna described her hopes for the session. “There are plenty of photos of mom’s belly. It’s important to me this photo session is about us – this moment in our lives where it has been just the two of us and soon to be the three of us. I want to capture us before this beautiful new journey.”

Marit + Mike. Bozeman, Montana Engagement Session.

When I met Marit I just knew I wanted to be her photographer. There are some people who just radiate warmth, kindness, and sincerity, and these characteristics just fit this girl. I had a blast hanging out with Marit and Mike, who, by the way, is also super awesome, during their engagement session. And I can’t wait for their wedding in just two weeks!

Gibson Park in Great Falls, Montana made the perfect backdrop for Chafaye and Cole’s intimate summer wedding. A morning of preparation and excited anticipation set the tone for a day of sweet moments and meaningful embraces between Chafaye and Cole and their wedding guests. And of course, their special day ended with delicious cake and a full dance floor.
